Cristiano Ronaldo wins the Ballon d'Or world footballer of the year award

Cristiano Ronaldo has won the 2014 FIFA Ballon D'Or, capping off an amazing personal season with the most prestigious individual award in football. This is Ronaldo's second consecutive Ballon d'Or victory and his third overall,

as he previously won the accolade during his Manchester United days in 2008. CR7 is the first Real Madrid player ever to win the award in consecutive seasons. Ronaldo beat Lionel Messi and Manuel Neuer to football's most coveted individual prize.
