Zimbabwe’s President, Robert Mugabe has sworn in two new
vice presidents at a ceremony held at the State House offices, Emmerson Mnangagawa
and another Vice president, Phelekezala Mphoko took their oath of loyalty
alongside other new cabinet ministers.
With Emmerson
Mnangagwa ‘s oath of office, he has cemented his status as the leading candidate
to succeed Robert Mugabe, the country’s sole ruler since independence from
Britain in 1980.
The Crocodile also
retains his role as the minister of justice. He is Mugabe’s most trusted lieutenants,
having served at his side through five decades of prison, guerrilla war and
then post –liberation government.
Along the way, he earned the name ‘Ngwena”, Shona for
Crocodile’, an animal feared in Zimbabwe lore for its stealth and ruthlessness.
