First- ever BBC Music Award

The first ever BBC Music Award took place on Thursday 11th December at London’s Earls Court. For the first-time ever, the BBC hosted the BBC Music Awards to celebrate the best the music industry has to offer.

The show was more of a concert and appreciation of British acts than an award show with only four awards handed out during the night. The awards ceremony was hosted by Chris Evans and Fearne Cotton.

Four big awards were up for grabs at the ceremony including BBC Introducing act of the year, British Artist of the Year, International Artist of the Year and Song of the Year.

A number of performances also took place at the ceremony where 13,500 music fans attended. The likes of Coldplay, One Direction, Calvin Harris, Ellie Goulding, George Ezra, Clean Bandit, Gregory Porter and more all performed.
