World Health Organization (WHO) advices men Ebola survivors to abstain from sex

World Health Organization (WHO) has today advised men who recover from Ebola to abstain from sex for 3 months in order to minimize the risk of passing the virus in their semen.
In a statement WHO says “Because of the potential to transmit the virus sexually during this time , they should maintain good personal hygiene after masturbation, and either abstain from sex (including oral sex) for three  months after onset of symptoms , or use condoms if abstinence is not possible.”
Ebola, a disease that has infected almost 16,000 people and killed about 5,689 in West Africa spreads through body fluids such as blood, saliva and faeces.

Although sexual transmission of the Ebola virus has never been documented, the virus has been detected in the survivor’s semen.
