There has
been widespread looting of foreign-owned stores in South Arica which started in
Soweto last week. The looting was sparked after a 14-year-old boy, Siphiwe
Mahori was shot in Snake Park, Soweto by a Somali shopkeeper, Alodixashi Sheik
Yusuf who allegedly fired at a group of people trying to rob his shop.
Yusuf
appeared in the Protea Magistrate’s Court on Monday morning in connection with
Mahori’s murder. The trial was postponed so a Somali interpreter can be found.
The looting
have spread to Eden Park, Ekuruhuleni, Gauteng. A group of 20 people around 10
