Cockpit voice recorder of AirAsia flight QZ8501 has been retrieved.

The cockpit voice recorder of AirAsia flight QZ8501 has been retrieved by divers from the wreckage of the passenger jet as they took advantage of calmer weather to search for the recorder.

According to Reuters, the cockpit voice recorder, which records conversations between the pilots and with air traffic controllers, was found close to where the flight data recorder was recovered from the bottom of the Java Sea and brought to shore.
The retrieval comes a day after the first piece of the recorders, black box, the flight data recorder, was also found. The black boxes contain a wealth of data that will be crucial for investigators piecing together the sequence of events that led to the airliner plunging into the sea, killing 162 people. Investigators may need up to a month to get a complete reading of the data.
