BlackBerry’s
CEO John Chen has unveiled the new BlackBerry phone, The BlackBerry Classic, its
fourth smartphone of 2014,
following the Z3, the P’9983 and the BlackBerry Passport. BlackBerry’s latest smartphone comes with a full QWERTY physical keyboard and an optical track-pad, bringing back the best thing about the company that once dominated the smartphone market.
following the Z3, the P’9983 and the BlackBerry Passport. BlackBerry’s latest smartphone comes with a full QWERTY physical keyboard and an optical track-pad, bringing back the best thing about the company that once dominated the smartphone market.
BlackBerry
has equipped the Classic with a 3.5-inch touchscreen, which features a 720 x
720 pixel resolution and 294ppi pixel density, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, an
8-megapixel camera, powered by a dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon processor and a
reported 22 hours of battery life, all surrounded by a familiar-looking, and
very traditional BlackBerry body shell.
Actually,
the Classic just looks like an improved Bold. It is significantly smaller than
the Passport and is actually possible to use in one hand, unlike the gargantuan
Passport. BlackBerry
says this phone will appeal to those looking for the traditional BlackBerry
experience that made those devices so popular so many years ago. If you loved
the BlackBerry Bold, chances are you’ll fall for the Classic.
The
Classic runs BlackBerry 10, which offers productivity tools like the Hub,
Assistant, and Blend. It also can run Android apps. You could
lay your hands on one for only $450(R5,195)
