A South African woman assaults two flight attendants



A 30-year-old South African Nomantangwa Angel Babhekile Johansson, from Sandhurst, Sandton, who forced a Toronto bound flight to be diverted to Halifax Stanfield International Airport after allegedly assaulting two flight attendants has been charged with
three counts of assault on an aircraft after.

Air Canada flight AC869 with 239 passengers on board from London’s Heathrow’s Airport to Toronto’s Pearson airport made an unscheduled stop at landed in Halifax just before 11:30 a.m. ET and was met by police who arrested her before the plane was allowed to leave the airport after an hour- long stop.

RCMP spokesman Sgt. Al Leblanc confirmed Wednesday the flight made an unscheduled landing at the airport just before 12:30 p.m. after they received a call about an unruly passenger.

She was charged with one count of assault with a weapon, one count of causing a disturbance, and one count of endangering an aircraft under the aeronautics act
