ANC pays R2.2million to hire Cape Town Stadium

In preparations for the annual January 8th ANC celebrations, ANC has secured the use of Cape Town Stadium for its 103rd birthday celebrations by paying R2.2million.

City of Cape Town’s mayoral committee member for tourism, events and economic development, Garreth Bloor, said the ANC had paid the full amount the city had quoted it for hiring the venue.

The city demanded that the ANC pay the full amount up front. It was not willing to negotiate any discount or any deal with the governing party due to its bad credit record with the city.

It is on record that the ANC still owes the City of Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) the sum of R1.5million for almost four years now.

ANC has put together a formidable team of senior leaders to do the groundwork in preparation for the event as it is an International event.
