Cameroon launches first air strikes against Boko Haram

Cameroonian Air force launched a massive air strike for the first time on the Boko Haram Islamic sect following an order to carry out strikes from the President of Cameroun Paul Biya.

The airstrikes were carried out at a military base in Ashigashiya that was earlier overran by the militants. About 1,000 militants attacked five villages, including Amchide, and seized the nearby Achigachia military base. The military repelled the coordinated attacks and regained control of the base, forcing the fighters to decamp from Achigachia. At least 41 militants and one soldier were killed
