Bill
Cosby, 77 has resigned from the board of trustees of Temple University,
his Alma Mater amid the scandal engulfing the comedian and television star.
In a
statement, Cosby said “I have always wanted to do what would be in the best
interests of the university and its students.”
"As a
result, I have tendered my resignation from the Temple University Board of
Trustees."
The
resignation comes after two weeks in which a number of women, at least 20, have
come forward with allegations of sexual assault against him. The board has accepted
his resignation and thanked him for his service.
Cosby
attended Temple University on an athletic scholarship before dropped out to
start a career as a stand-up comedian.
