Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Manuel Neuer made the final three names selected from an original list of 23 candidates which also included Gareth Bale, Javier Mascherano, Andres Iniesta and Neymar.

On the shortlist for Fifa Malcoach of the year award are:

Carlo Ancellotti of Real Madrid,

Joachim Low, the German World Cup winning coach and Diego Simeone of Atletico Madrid

For the Fifa female coach award, the following coaches were shortlisted:

Coach Norio Sasaki of Japan, Maren Meinert, Germany under 20 coach and Ralf Kellermann, Germany under 19 caoch

The three shortlisted female players for the female award are:

Abby Wambach from USA, Nadine Kessler from Germany and Marta from Brasil.

The winner of the Ballon d’Or will be announced at an event on Monday the 12th of January,2015.

It will be recalled that Cristaino Ronaldo won the title in 2013, while Messi have won the title four times in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012.
