Pele discharged from Albert Einstein Hospital



Brazilian soccer legend, Pele, 74 has left the Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo after an infection which stemmed from surgery to remove kidney stones. He was hospitalized on 24th of November with a suspected urinary tract infection.

Speaking at a news conference, he said “"I got the chills but I've felt that before and I was not to know it was an infection," he said of the moment a few weeks ago when he was taken to hospital.

"I was worried. But I can't say I was afraid of dying because I am a man of Three Hearts.

Pele is looking forward to enjoying the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, he said "Rest assured, I am already preparing for the Olympics,"

The soccer legend also thanked his doctors and fans who passed on their regards during the past two weeks.

"I would like to thank all those who sent messages, from China, Pakistan, almost every country in Europe, I didn't know that they were all paying attention to my situation," 
"And of course I especially thank Brazilians for always supporting me. It's good to know that as well as God's help I have the support of so many people around the world."

Pele’s agent Jose “Pepito” Fornos said Pele has only one kidney after the other was removed following a rib injury he suffered while playing for New York Cosmos in the 1970s.

Pele ended his career with a spell in the then-embryonic US league with the New York Cosmos and scored 77 goals in 91 games for Brazil and a total 1 281 in his career.
