Angelina Jolie
surprised two inner city high school girls Melissa Sandoval and Janice Megan
Castillo with a college scholarship during an emotional portion of the The Hollywood
Reporter’s (THR's) Women in Entertainment Power 100 Breakfast at Milk Studio in Los
Angeles.
Jolie
presented the scholarship to a packed audience that included Patricia Arquette,
David Katzenberg, Portia de Rossi, Tony Goldwyn, Geena Davis and many
more. The scholarship recipients were overcome with emotion after being
presented with the scholarships to Loyola Marymount University.
The two
scholarships — whose value totals more than $400,000 — were handed out to the
girls, both about to graduate from THR'sWomen in Entertainment Mentorship
Program. The first scholarship was fully funded by LMU; the second by the
William Morris Endeavor Foundation.
